High-Growth Consultant Gary W. Patterson Organizes Panel Discussion on Greening of America
April 2, 2009 â€" Boston, Mass. â€" Gary Patterson, CEO of FiscalDoctor®, organized a panel discussion titled “Cleantech - Power Wars: Who wins in the end and where does venture investment and academia fit?”
Presented by The EntreTech Forum, an affiliate of Northeastern University's School of Technological Entrepreneurship, and Co-Sponsored by IEEE-Boston Entrepreneurs’ Network (ENET) the panel discussion was held on March 17, 2009. Distinguished panelists included: Andrew Friendly, Principal, ATV Capital; Avi Goldberg, VP & COO, GreatPoint Energy; Bill Staby, Co-Founder, Resolute Marine Energy; Julianne Zimmerman, VP of Communications, General Compression; and Lawrence C. Grumer, Managing Director, Technology Associates & Alliances (TAA).
The session focused on the following three areas:
• Hydromethanation. A process by which coal, petroleum coke, and biomass are converted directly into low-cost, clean, pipeline quality natural gas, while allowing for the capture and sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2).
• "WaveWater." A method investigating the feasibility of using wave energy to manufacture fresh water using seawater reverse-osmosis (SWRO) desalination units.
• Advanced Energy Storage Systems. Transforming wind and other intermittent energy sources into dispatchable, firm power sources suitable for peaking, intermittent and baseload generation.
