January 8th is National JoyGerm Day. Here's How to Create More Joy…

Today, January 8, 2007 is National JoyGerm Day, a day devoted to spreading joy and cheer, kindness, courtesy, sacredness, silliness, harmony and humor - whew, what a list! How can you have more joy in your life?

Susan Gayle, CH, Founder of the New Behavior Institute (www.NewBehaviorInstitute.com), Certified Hypnotist (NGH, ABH, IMDHA, IACT), Author, Teacher, Speaker and host of the Online Talk Radio Show, "Susan Gayle's Happy Hour" on the VoiceAmerica Health & Wellness Channel (www.Health.VoiceAmerica.com) every Thursday, at 6:00-7:00 p.m. EST (3:00-4:00 Pacific; 5:00 - 6:00 Central), has this to say about creating more joy:

"To feel more joyful, it's important to focus on solutions. Unhappiness and stress comes from a feeling of powerlessness. As we focus on solutions, we take back our sense of control over our lives and ourselves and we take back our sense of optimism. Re-frame your mindset and focus on what makes you feel more in control - do something, whatever you can. Result: you feel more positive and optimistic."

Susan goes on to say:

"We are always moving towards our dominant thought. Being an optimistic person doesn't mean becoming a Pollyanna and it doesn't mean hiding your head in the sand. What it means is focusing on thoughts that make you feel good, or when negative people are around, thoughts and actions that make you feel better. That's a trait optimistic people have - the ability to bounce back.

The ability to stay focused on things you can do something about is another important trait. Looking at solutions - what actions you can take to improve it, rather than going over and over the problems. And having a sense of trust that things will work out."

It's been said of Susan Gayle and her work, " We regain our lost sense of ease, grace and limitless potential." And besides, she's fun!
